1. Heritage and Historical Sites of Macau

On the first day in Macau, we first went to see the one remaining wall of the Ruins of St Pauls. It was pretty cool. It really was just one remaining wall (doesn’t look very stable really…), the rest of it was burned down hundreds of years ago. It is definitely quite the tourist attraction. Nearby, there was also a fortress with very interesting history and facts.

This is the one remaining wall of the church and the nearby St Paul’s College.

From a different angle, better to view its single-walled-ness.

And some visitor information for the ruins.

Don’t have many great pictures of the fortress. That was quite difficult. However, here’s information on it. It’s quite interesting really.

Aside from these two sites, there were also very interesting pieces of old Portuguese architecture, that have now been noted as heritage sites, and are maintained as another tourist attraction. They are very nice, and provide a nice contrast to the very modern and technological scene of the new hotels and casinos.

Very nice and colourful. It’s really quite nice looking. I’m glad they’re keeping them around and maintaining them. I mean, they are now all something different than what they were built for, but that’s alright.

Again, more pictures, they will be on facebook, or if you ask, I can post some more for you.

Now that I’ve completed my Macao posts, I figure I might as well have one last word in.

Yes I gambled in Macao. It’s the gambling capital of the world, I had to. How much did I win you ask? Well, I lost. I lost a total of about $1300 HKD. (This was the total amount that I allotted myself for entertainment money. It was quite well spent. Highs and lows. Quite enjoyable.)

Next post: Hong Kong (Shopping and Ocean Park).

[PS: There is a very interesting story about “Unofficial Hotel Customer Service Representatives” that I can share with you privately if you wish at a later time. If you don’t understand what I mean by that, don’t bother asking, you won’t find it interesting either. If you THINK you know what I’m talking about *AHEM AHEM*, that’s EXACTLY what I mean. And yes. You will want to hear the story.]
